Labonté, Mary McCabe (nee Egan) Mary, loving wife of John (d.2011), died peacefully in her sleep with her children by her side on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the age of 80. Cherished mother of eight children; Alice (Mike Wood), Karen (Bo Enss), Michele, John Jr., Tim (Lynn), Joe (Dana Pintea), Marylou (Michael Frendo), and Patrick (Blair St. Amand). Loving grandmother of twenty-two grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Anne Prudden. Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and lifelong childhood friend Veronica Campbell. Predeceased by granddaughter Tegan and brothers Thomas and Brian. Mary touched the lives of many who will remember her fondly.Her children are grateful for the wonderful gift of an incredible mother. Mary had a full life. After raising eight children she became a Registered Nurse. She was a Brownie Leader for many years, a Counsellor and Director for Birthright Niagara and an active member of the Catholic Women’s League.The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Soliman, Joanne Wintemute and the caring team at NHS Dialysis Unit and also the caring staff at Tabor Manor.Friends may call at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, 34 Elgin Street, St. Catharines on Wednesday, June 5th, 2013 at 11 am. Rite of Committal to follow at St. John’s Church Cemetery, Port Dalhousie.Memorial donations can be made to The Kidney Foundation or to Birthright Niagara.
