Obituary of John Miller

Miller, “Jack” John Peter ~ Peacefully at the Port Colborne General Hospital on Wednesday October 9, 2013 with family by his side. Jack Miller, devoted husband of the late Helen (nee De Mars). Dearly remembered by his sister Marilyn Turner and her husband Robert Richardson. Remembered by sister-in-law Frances, his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant daughter Candice, beloved son Gregory, his parents Wesley and Margaret (nee Baker) and brother Donald. Jack’s journalistic career began at the Welland Evening Tribune from 1945 – 1953 from sports editor to front page editor; Hamilton Spectator 1953 to 1971 as radio and television columnist; Toronto Star 1971 to 1995 as radio and television columnist, communications editor, science editor and science correspondent - winning multiple awards from the Canadian Science Writers Association; and completing his journalistic career from 1991- 1995 as Professor of Journalism at Niagara College. A celebration of Jack’s life will take place at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 11am.
