Betty Kossivas Obituary

Betty Kossivas passed away of natural causes on Sunday, March 24, 2024. She was

born in Greece on October 15, 1931 to parents John and Triandafili Tasoulis. She was

the second child after her older brother Mitsos, and Georgina was her younger sister.

Betty’s second sister, Dora, was born later to John and Nicoletta (John’s second wife).

Tragically, both Triandafili and Nicoletta died while giving birth.

Betty came to Canada when she was six years old, having been adopted by John’s

loving brother, George Tasoulis, and his wife, Voula, who lived in St. Catharines,

Ontario. She lived in St. Catharines all her life, marrying John Kossivas and raising their

only daughter, Georgina.

Betty had a varied career, including teaching at a business college, working as a dental

assistant, and as an administrative assistant in a rehabilitation hospital. After a long life

of 92 years, she is at peace.

She was predeceased by her husband, John, and sister, Georgina. She is survived by

her brother Mitsos in Greece, sister Dora in Toronto, daughter Georgina (Ross

Stockwell), and granddaughters Morgan and Taylor. She also is survived by nieces and

nephews, including Robert (Bob) Lyberopoulos (Karen) in Arizona, and Tina (John)

Bargis in Richmond Hill.

We wish to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at The Loyalist Retirement

Residence, who supported Betty’s independence during her retirement years. Also

much appreciation to the many staff at the Isabel and Arthur Meighan Manor Long Term

Care Residence for the loving care and attention they provided in her declining years,

as well as Azieb Arefe.
