Obituary of Stanley Sadava
Stanley William Sadava,
Died Thursday surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ottawa, he was educated at Lisgar Collegiate and Carleton University, receiving his doctorate in psychology from University of Colorado. After two years at Loyola in Montreal, Stan began a forty-year faculty position at Brock University. He taught undergraduate and graduate courses, supervised student theses, chaired the psychology department and the university senate and served on national research grant committees. He also conducted funded research on problem drinking, adult attachment and health, and co- authored textbooks in social psychology. He was an active member of Congregation B'nai Israel in Niagara. Stan took great pleasure in attending Blue Jays games and cheering his beloved Canadiens. During trips to the mountains in Chile, he enjoyed sipping pisco sours. He was a strong Supporter of the arts, attending concerts and plays, appreciated fine cuisine and a voracious reader. Stan was predeceased by his beloved son Kevin, parents Sam and Ruth, grandparents Louis and Esther Bloom and favourite Uncle Bill "Unk" Bloom. He also missed dearly departed friends Norman Blair, Pearl Katzman, the Vomberg family and Shie-fang Lin. He is survived by his dear wife Dr. Maria Becker, son Simon MacDougall Sadava, daughter in law Claire and grandson Jack, brothers David (Dianne) and Mike (Anne) and extended family in Chile including brothers-in-law Claudio, Alvaro and Sergio.
Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2 at Garden City Funerals, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines.
