John William Greenhalgh Obituary

John William Greenhalgh – a beloved grampa, father, brother, son, and friend has passed away.

John was loved by many. He was a son of Margaret and William Greenhalgh, a brother to Mary Jean Greenhalgh. Survived by his children Scott and Chris Greenhalgh. He was also a proud grandpa of Lucas, Leo, and Mackenzie, and a friend to many near and far.

A lifelong resident of St. Catharines, John graduated from the St. Catharines Collegiate in 1965, and led a career as an entrepreneur. During his life, he was a passionategolfer, proudly winning the 1988 St. Catharines Golf and Country Club Championship, a die-hard Leafs and Blue Jays fan, an amateur wine maker and enthusiast, and achef extraordinaire, often bringing people together through food and laughter. John had an ability to find the fun in everything, a kind heart, and a talent for sound advice when you needed it most. He was a shoulder to lean on, a voice of reason, and quick to remind people to enjoy life’s simple pleasures.

While the loss of John is incredibly difficult, his legacy lives on in the stories, laughter, and love he left behind. To honor his memory, a Celebration of Life will be held this summer—a time to gather, share stories, and remember him the way he would have wanted. Details will be shared once plans are in place.
