Although Sonia was my aunt, she was a few weeks younger, so we grew up more like cousins. I have so many memories of the times we bonded during annual vacation visits. I even chose her as my maid-of-honour.
Over the years, as distance and circumstances changed, no matter where we were she would always remember to send a lovely note to stay connected. Once, when she was unable to reach me on a milestone birthday, she decided right on the spot to sing her rendering of Happy Birthday on our answering machine (not an easy thing to do), concluding it with a loving message. That touched my heart and really made my day. I always treasured that thoughtful gesture, and still cherish it. And I never knew she had such a good voice! That’s how she was with people, always caring to make someone feel good or to help them in some way.
May she finally be resting in peace.
with love & tears,
Sue Morris (& of course, Dan)
