Obituary of Stephen William Forgeron
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Stephen at the young age of 62. He was the loving and proud father of Claire (Joe), Alexander, and Andrew (Jessica). He will be sadly missed by his loving companion and soulmate, Rose Gallaway, and her two children, Jordan and Jack, who cherished their new friendship.
Stephen will be missed by Suzie Forgeron (Burton), mother of their three beautiful children.
Stephen was a devoted son to the late Lucille and Valma Forgeron. They were his link to the family's proud Acadian heritage in Nova Scotia. He was a caring brother to Ken (the late Sharon), the late Mark (Lynn), and Nicole (Chris). He was a dear uncle to Luc (Laura), Maggie, Bailey (Rachael), Shaw (Katie), and Steven. He was a "Great" uncle to Gigi, Ellie and Felix.
Stephen enjoyed and thrived in a 35+ year career with Black & MacDonald as a Mechanical Engineer. He poured his heart into every project, especially the HVAC systems he designed for four hockey rink complexes across Ontario—projects that combined his professional expertise with his lifelong love for the game of hockey. His "office family" was very important to him, making thoughts of retirement difficult to contemplate.
An accomplished athlete from an early age, Stephen played CYO hockey and baseball, as well as competitive high school rowing. After attending university, he continued playing his childhood sports, but also took on golfing (a proud member of the St. Catharines Golf & Country Club), backpacking and canoeing. Over the years, he was a cherished member of the Bowery, Silver Bullets and Lina's Hawks. Unfortunately, skateboarding, stunt bike riding and square dancing with his sister, Nicole, all fell to the sidelines due to injuries. Fun fact ... Stephen even sang in the Glee Club at university for a short stint. Who knew? He passionately coached (and had a significant leadership role) with St. Mary's CYO Hockey and St. Catharine's Lacrosse for over 30 years. Rumour has it that he even took surfing lessons on the west coast of BC with his son, Andrew.
Some may not know that Stephen was a talented artist and enjoyed both drawing and painting, bringing out a spiritual side to his life. He loved reading, being in nature, music, going to concerts, dancing and following the magnetism of politics as it affects everyday life. Family time at the cottage in the Ottawa Valley reinforced a sense of meaning and connection in his life. He was a deep-feeling, sensitive soul with a caring spirit. He often told players he coached that the "fight" comes from within; "It's all about heart."
Being surrounded by friends and family was so important ... and boy does he have a lot of caring and supportive friends, a testament to his character.
We love you and will miss you like crazy "Tee Tee." Until we meet again...
