Agustin Maulas Balbon

1977 – 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of Agustin Maulas Balbon announces his peaceful passing at home in St. Catharines, Ontario, on July 19, 2025, at the age of 47, following complications related to cancer.

Born in Canlupao, Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte, Philippines, in 1977, Agustin was the beloved son of Tomas Olay Balbon and Eleodora Mina Maulas Balbon. He attended Canlupao Elementary School and San Isidro National High School, later pursuing his studies in marine engineering at the Philippine Maritime Institute.

In May 2011, Agustin immigrated to Canada and began working at Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort on August 15 of that year. He remained a dedicated employee until February 2024, when he was diagnosed with cancer. Despite the challenges of his illness, Agustin faced each day with strength, humility, and grace.

Agustin was the loving husband of Merari Balbon for 20 wonderful years and the proud father of Khian Balbon. He leaves behind his cherished siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, as well as many dear friends and former colleagues. He was predeceased by his uncle, Frederico Balbon.

Family and friends are invited to visit Garden City Funerals & Cremations, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines, on Friday, July 25, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Catholic service at 5:30PM, and on Saturday, July 26, from 10:00 a.m. until 12pm with a funeral service at 12pm. Cremation will follow.
