Our family is deeply saddened to share the passing of our wonderful mother, Theresa Hough, on Tuesday, August 5th, after a battle with liver failure.

Cherished Mom of Cathy and Jim McConnell and Tim and Sherry Hough.  Adored “Mama” of Megan (Cody) Parsons, Rion (Christine) Hough, Patrick (Haley) McConnell and Titan (Lauren) Hough.  She treasured her 9 great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Hannah, Louisa, Hudson, Ben, Jackson, Tucker, Emerson and Parker. 

Theresa was the wife of the late Ronald Hough, with whom she shared 49 wonderful years of marriage. Survived by and loved dearly by her sisters Cecile Handley, Pierrette Henderson, Helene Lauzon, Denise (Marcel) Arbour and her sister-in-law Dorothy Lauzon and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Laurent and Ronalda Lauzon, brothers Gerry (Vina) and Rene, brothers-in-law Frank, Bob, and Paul. As well as her in-laws, Arthur and Betty Hough and Jack and Gretta Hough.

Born January 2, 1935 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Mom moved to St. Catharines in her teens and in 1957 married our Dad. Theresa worked at Laura Secord Candy Shops as a Store Manager in several locations.  She was a great baker (her date squares were legendary and our Christmas tourtieres will never be the same) and our family were the beneficiaries of many beautiful hand-sewn quilts that she made.  In her later years, she volunteered with the Falcons hockey organization and was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 2024.  She had a wonderful 90th birthday celebration in January, surrounded by her family and friends that she enjoyed so very much.

She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Garden City Funerals & Cremations, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines, on Friday August 8th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will follow on Saturday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice Niagara.
