Obituary of Edith Adelstein

Adelstein, Edith “Edie” Passed away peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Saturday, February 27, 2016. In her 94th year, Edith Maude Adelstein (nee Stones), beloved wife of the late David Adelstein. Loving mother of Brian (Alice), Lauren (Barry) and Shelley (Curtis). Beloved grandmother of Andrew (Catherine), Terri, Nathan (Katie) and Anna. Great Grandmother of Rob (Kelsey), Alex (Michelle), Mikinna and Naia. Sister-in-law of Albert Adelstein. Treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews, especially remembered by Beth and Doug. Predeceased by her son William, her brother Dan and by her three sisters Betsy, Lucy and Louisa. Edie’s family wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Catharines General Hospital. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Edie was devoted to her friends and family and was involved in many community organizations in her earlier years. She volunteered with the Hadassah and B’nai B’rith and worked with handicapped children as a Brownie leader. She enjoyed her long-time membership with Gyrettes and was involved in golf, line dancing and bridge at the St. Catharines Golf & Country Club. Visitation will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines on Monday, February 29, 2016 from 9am until time of service on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 10am. Interment in B’nai Israel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or The Lung Association of Ontario (416-864-9911) would be appreciated by the family.
