Obituary of Stephen Gregory Dayes
Steve (Stephen) Dayes
June 19, 1960 – February 14, 2022
Steve (Stephen) Dayes, 61, of St. Catharines, Ontario, passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2022. He passed away in the Niagara Health System, St. Catharines Site, ICU.
Steve graduated from Grantham High School and later in life attended DeVry University, Toronto Campus. He enjoyed many hobbies including cars, CB radio later becoming a licensed Amateur Radio operator (VE3SDI), Music Trivia, shooting pool, golf and so much more.
As Steve grew up, he made many friends and loved hanging out with them at the local donut shops talking about everything under the sun. Steve’s friends were a close-knit group, usually all with something in common. If any friend needed help, Steve was always there to help as best as he could. One thing you could usually count on, was losing many “discussions” with Steve. He was often called “a walking encyclopedia of useless knowledge”. Steve was also a member of the Niagara Peninsula Amateur Radio Club.
One of Steve’s happiest moments was being told that he was to be a father. He was graced with a beautiful daughter, Stephanie (Squirt), who has always looked up to her dad. Even as adults, Steph and her dad stayed very close. Steve was always there for Steph through her ups and downs and taught her to enjoy every moment that life has to offer. Dinner dates were a common event.
Steve is survived his sister, Lois Dayes, his daughter, Stephanie Dayes and granddaughter Charlotte Hartleib. He is predeceased by his mother and father, James and Phyllis (Clara) Dayes and granddaughter Rosemary Clara Hartleib.
