Though I haven't seen Nathan in quite some time, I'll never forget the quirky, sweet boy (and then man) he was. When we were growing up there were times in life he was a little brother to me (in more than one way, whether we argued like little brats - kids, right? - or looked out for one another when it mattered.) Cyndi and Phil took me in numerous times and welcomed me into their family with so much generosity and love; there's no doubt in my mind they're where Nathan got his compassion and sensitivity to others from. Everybody in the McGuire/VanBrussel family that I've ever known just knew how to make somebody feel welcome without judgement. They can make you smile, laugh and overall make you feel less alone in a world that can sometimes feel isolating; they remind you that we aren't alone in this journey. After all, we're all just humans trying to find our places in the world so it's important to be kind, patient and compassionate with eachother. Nathan was no exception to these traits, and his place in the world has brought warmth and light to those around him. Shine on, Nate.
My deepest condolences to all of his family, I will be making a donation in his name in the coming days.
