Obituary of Roy Bonazza

Bonazza, Roy Died suddenly at Horizon Place in London on Sunday August 30, 2015 .In his 85th year, Roy Frederick Bonazza, beloved husband of the late Gertrude Marie Louise Bonazza (nee Laflamme) for fifty-nine years. Loving father of Paul (Joanne) and Mary Lou Kewin (late Peter). Loving Grandpa of Sarah, Jeff, Andrew, Kris, Chantal, Scott, Joey, Mikey, Danny, Laura and Sylvie. Predeceased by a son Jimmy and by his parents Vittoria and Paul Bonazza and by his siblings Viola (Fiore Carbone), Rena (Rudy Skoff), Wilson Bonazza (Margaret Paine), Fanny (Albert Fedrizzi), Ida (Robert Gale), Delia (Robert Nichols), Jean (Eugene Lampman) and Zita “Skip" Bonazza (Connie Weicker). Roy worked as a carpenter for many years in general construction then with Ontario Paper for over twenty-five years until his retirement in 1996. Roy served a number of years as the treasurer of the Ontario Paper Employees Association.Roy was passionate about his yard, his fruit trees and his vegetable garden.He spent countless hours managing and attending to those. He enjoyed semiannual fishing trips with work buddies to Algonquin Park “to catch the big one”.He enjoyed bowling and belonged to a 5 pin league for many years. However, he was most passionate about his Bonazza family and siblings, most proud of his own children and gained most enjoyment from playing with his young grandchildren. In their company there was much laughter and he enjoyed watching them grow. A funeral service will be held at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel,39 Court St., St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 5pm. The service will be followed by a reception till 8pm.
