SARANCHUK, Colette - On March 10, 2023, Colette Margaret Saranchuk (née Poirier) passed away peacefully at her family home at the age of 84. Colette has always been the heart and soul of her family and will live on as their inspiration. Many years ago, Colette put aside a career in physiotherapy to raise a family of seven children. In addition to focusing on her family, she is known for being an active and life-long member of the community of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria, as well as for always putting the needs of others above her own. She has touched us all and her memory will be cherished forever.

Colette was predeceased by her parents Dr. J. Leo Poirier and Cecilia (Battle), as well as her sister Mary Teresa Poirier. She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, George, as well as her children, Andrew (Kim), John, Peter (Jingjing), Patrick (Natalie), Matthew (Diana), David, and Mary Kate. She also leaves behind her twelve grandchildren (Mariella, Joseph, Lily, Daniel, Ailish, Keelin, Annabel, Oliver, Isabella, William, Christopher and Cecilia) who will all miss their grandma very much.

The family will always be grateful for the kindness, care and support provided over the past several years by her caregivers Wendy, Kim, and Doretta, as well as the recent care provided by Dr Harb.

A funeral Mass celebrating Colette’s life will be held at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria on Tuesday, March 14 at 10:30 a.m., with interment to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Home, 39 Court Street, St Catharines on Monday, March 13 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
