Obituary of Dietz Tiedtke

Tiedtke, “Dietz” Dietrich Helmut Passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 7, 2018. Loving husband for twenty-nine years of Anna-Maria (nee Holzhausen), beloved father of Torsten (Hendrea), Heiko (Esther), Olaf and Natasha (Eric) Stirr, loving grandfather of Katrina (Dustin), Erik, Sylvana, Andreas and Niko and proud great grandfather of Abigail Lynn. Dear brother of Hans-Joachim Tiedtke in Braunschweig, Germany. He is predeceased by his father Erich (MIA January 1945), his mother Else (1950) and first wife Irmgard (nee Junge) (1978). He owned and operated his own business for thirty years in the Niagara Region known as Line One Plumbing and Heating from “Coast to Coast”. Dietrich was born in Tilsit, Lithuania, August 29, 1942 and had to flee his homeland a refugee, by sheer luck he along with grandmother and brother missed boarding the “Gustlov” and had to walk to Germany where he met his first wife Irmgard Junge. In 1974, he brought Irmgard, Torsten and Heiko to Canada where he hoped to have a better life and where he made a small livestock hobby farm as he said “I never want to starve again,” A funeral service will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Congregation B'nai Israel would be appreciated.
