Obituary of Jean Dennis

Dennis, Jean Audrey (nee Simpson) December 22, 1916 … March 24, 2018 Passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 101 on Saturday,March 24, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Paul (2008) for over sixty-nine years. She was the eldest daughter of Margaret and John Simpson who were fruit farmers on Simpson Lane (now Simpson Road) in Port Dalhousie. Loving mother of Sandra Easby (late Joseph) of Crystal Beach, Barbara (Mike Tedesco) of Thorold,Judy (Jerry Botko) of Minnesota and Glenn Dennis(Cathy) of Calgary. Predeceased by her son-in-law Norm Hubbard. Dear grannie of Laura (David), Warren, Janet, Melanie (Dave), Jennifer (Ian), Susan (Brent), Geoffrey (Tricia), Gregory (Dezeray), Lorraine (Neil) and Arlene (Paul). Great grandmother of Alex, Sara, Samuel, Gabriela, Felicia, Jacob, Evan, Julian, Owen, Eric, Carina, Jordan, Sage, Ryerson and Teala. Remembered by her sister-in-law Marie Simpson. Predeceased by her younger brothers Jim (Bea), Don and sister Dorothy (Tom Agnew). Mom worked at Ridley College before her marriage and for ten years at Warren Woollens on St. Paul Street. She was a world traveller, loved to garden,indoors and out, always kept busy knitting, sewing, stamp collecting, reading biographies and doing crossword puzzles. Visitation will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Friday, April 20, 2018 from 10am until time of service on Friday, April 20, 2018 at 11am. Private family interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to either the Star of the Sea Catholic Church or the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation. Thanks to the staff of Henley House for their excellent care of Mom in her final three months.
