Obituary of Mary Jong

Jong, Mary Passed away peacefully with family at her side at Heidehof Home for the Aged in St.Catharines on Sunday, November 25, 2018. In her 59th year, Mary Agnes Jong, beloved daughter of Afra Jong (nee Veldman) and the late Theodore Jong. Dear sister of Gerry (Vicki), Ellie Partridge (Michael),Nel Dalcin (Remigio), Emma Hoffman (David), Frank (Bev), Robert, Marge and Jim. Loved aunt of twenty-four nieces and nephews and sixteen great nieces and nephews.Predeceased by her father Theodore (1979) and niece Carly Algra Jong (2016). Although Mary had some health problems, her faith in God inspired her to try to make a positive impact on people’s lives. She got her Masters of Social Work from The University of Toronto, and then continued to live and work in Toronto until 2011 when she moved to St. Catharines. Mary will be fondly remembered for sharing her talents as a beautiful pianist and artistic painter. She loved nature photography and making her own cards for family and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Arvinte and the Heidehof staff for their support and care. Visitation will be held at Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. Vigil prayers will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alfred Roman Catholic Church, 272 Vine Street, St. Catharines (905-934-9703) on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11am. Rite of committal at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Wainfleet. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to A L S Society of Canada (www.als.ca) would be appreciated by the family.
