Peacefully passed away with quiet dignity, in the arms of her son Chuck,in British Columbia on Tuesday, May 6, 2014. Barbara June Hurson (nee Goode), beloved wife of the late Bill Hurson (1990) and the late Charles Parish. Loving mother of Brian, of Thailand and Chuck, of British Columbia. Dear Grandmother of David, Stephanie and Danielle. Special Grandma of Jaimie (Denis) and Amanda (Frank). Great Grandmother of William and Frankie. Dear sister of Reg Goode (late Mary) and sister-in-law of Don Hurson (Jane).Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews: especially Janice (Tom) and Karen (Barb). Predeceased by her parents Ina and Reg Goode, her son Craig (2005)and by two sisters Aileen and Faye. Barb volunteered at the YMCA offering Aquafit for Seniors for eighteen years. In 1990, Barb received the “Volunteer of the Year Award” for the City of St. Catharines as well as an award from the YMCA for her work. She continued with her love of swimming at the former Holiday Inn providing several classes for seniors. Barb worked for many years as a tour guide. Many will fondly remember Barb as “The Cookie Lady”. Barb was also an avid bowler. Barb was active and energetic. She enjoyed music and loved to dance. Barb loved her time in William’s Lake, British Columbia, touring much of the area and attending their annual stampede. Visitation will be held at the Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court St.,St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Monday, May 19, 2014 from 9 to 11am.A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday,May 19, 2014 at 11am. Interment in Victoria Lawn Cemetery will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
