Obituary of Roman Grenuk

GRENUK- Roman Eugene (Romie) ~ Peacefully with family by his side on January 20th, 2016 in his 89th year at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls. Predeceased by his wife Geraldine Grenuk (Horbach) (1990), Loving father of Linda Grenuk, Stephanie Grenuk (Sweeney) and Patricia Grenuk (Beilschmidt) and a beautiful- precious grandaughter Cathryn Beilschmidt the apple of his eyes all of St.Catharines. Will be missed by his sister Stella Grenuk (Proctor). Predeceased by his parents Andrew and Stephanie Grenuk of Windsor Ontario. Predeceased by his brother Marshall Grenuk in Drummondville also by his sister Nancy Salowsky of Detroit Michigan. Roman was a very hard worker. He started alongside his father Andrew Grenuk at the Walker Road Tavern in Windsor, he then moved back to St.Catharines to continue working alongside his father at the Old Rainbow Hotel where Roman and Gerry were married in 1950. Later on he worked for Intercity and the Port Weller Dry Docks for 27 years. He would also help out at his father-in-laws Sunoco Gas Station on Ontario and Lake Streets. (Joseph Horbach). Roman Had a kind heart and BIG blue eyes. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 936 Sgt at Arms. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their thanks to Dillion (Erwin) LaRonde, Roman’s best friend for being there whenever he needed him. Darte Funeral Chapel, 39 Court Street, St. Catharines (905-685-6584) on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 2 - 4p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Panachyda will be served at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 7 p.m.. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church, 14 Rolls Avenue, St. Catharines (905-646-1275) on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. Rite of Committal to take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church Building Fund or the Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.
