Obituary of Ted Oakes

Oakes, Ted 1939-2020 Peacefully passed away at the St. Catharines Hospital on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Ted was a devoted, loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. Beloved spouse of Mitcheline (Kriminski) for 56 years. Cherished father to Catherine (James Olsthoorn) and Sherri (Mathew Nedeljko). Ted’s gentle manner and glowing eyes will be missed and lovingly remembered by his treasured grandchildren, Andrew (Melissa), Dr. Will, and Lucas Olsthoorn; Eric (Abby) and Cassandra Nedeljko. Ted was a loving brother to Jane Kolbuc (Hervé), brother-in-law to Virginia (Gerald), Mitch (Margaret), and Donna (Ted). He will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and special friends. Ted dearly valued and appreciated his home, family and friends who brought so much joy to his life. It was Ted’s depth of faith that nurtured his daily life by both word and action. He was a dedicated employee with the City of St. Catharines as a Building Inspector, a respected colleague and friend to many. Ted volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul Society and Community Care, loved music, golfing, was an amateur astronomer, and a faithful member of the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him and whose lives he touched. In keeping with Ted’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria. Donations in Ted’s memory may be made to Hospice Niagara, St. Catharines.
