Obituary of Joseph Albert Adelstein

ADELSTEIN, Joseph Albert It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Albert Adelstein on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at the age of 90 at the St. Catharines General Hospital. Loving husband of the late Esther Adelstein (2008) for 57 years. Beloved father of Sam, Brian and Mark (Michelle). Cherished grandfather of Jordan (Kylie), Michael (Reyna), David, Danielle and Jared. Adored great grandfather of Alexandra, Eli and Sophia. He is predeceased by his parents Sam and Mary Adelstein, his sisters Doris, Bertha and Minna, and his brother David. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario he graduated from the St. Catharines Collegiate High School and then he attended the University of Toronto. Later he returned to St. Catharines to take over the family business, Sam Adelstein & Co. Limited after his father’s death. He was actively involved in many charities in St. Catharines and a long standing member of B’nai Israel Synagogue. During his years of good health, Albert was an avid golfer and curler with his many friends at the St. Catharines Golf and Country Club. The family would like to thank the many wonderful, caring and compassionate health care staff that helped care for Albert (Joseph). Due to current Covid-19 restrictions a small private funeral will be held. If desired memorial donations can be made to Congregation B’nai Israel Foundation of St. Catharines.
