We meet Lona before Mike and Carla got married. Such a lovely woman. She certainly raised Mike to be a caring and responsible man.
So sorry for your loss.

Lona worked a number of years at the Catholic Centre, which is where I met her. She was always pleasant and impeccably dressed. Your photo of Lona shows the bright smile with which she greeted all comers to the Centre. Her stories were often told with a soft chuckle so you knew she could be pretty mischievous despite her quiet demeanour at work. I was particularly impressed with her close, lifelong friendships with her elementary school friends. Rest In Peace, Lona. Colleen & Bob

Aunt Lona was another Aunt to me. She was Godmother to my brother and best friend to my Mom and was always FAMILY. She was always so welcoming and loving. I would enjoy our visits each time in St Catharines, even though that happened less and less since I moved to BC. No matter how much time had passed or how far away I lived, she always had an open home and heart. Love you, Aunt Lona. My heart goes out to Cheryl, Michael, Colin, and the rest of the family. Hugs to you all.
Love

Lona was my chosen sister, my sister of the heart. She walked into my life, quite literally, on her first day of school after she moved to Merritton 70 years ago when we were 8. I was taller than her even then. She was lined up behind me as we waited to go into the school. The line started to move then stopped abruptly so I stopped suddenly. Because Lona could not see past me, she continued to move & walked up my heel. I turned to look into her sweet face as she apologized profusely while looking uncertain what my reaction would be. I smiled & we became instant friends. Our friendship & her family have been a treasure to me. My heart & love go out to all of them in their loss. Because we live in Barrie & the stay-at-home restrictions are in place, we cannot be there to say our good-byes. This photo of Lona & me taken in June 2019 shows Lona as I want to remember her. I hope it helps you too. Till we meet again my friend. Love, Cathy & Reg
