Obituary of Gerald Eckhardt

Eckhardt, Gerald “Jerry” (World War II veteran) ~ Peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on Monday, September 14, 2009. In his 84th year, Gerald Douglas Eckhardt, Beloved husband of Lois Eckhardt (nee Race). Loving father of Debbie (Don Iannizzi), Greg (Judy), Brian (Karen) and Gary (Stacy). Dear father-in-law of Juanita Spink (late Colin). Loved “Papa” of sixteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Dear brother of Florence Steinmann, Francis Hambleton, Cliff Eckhardt, Elsie (Keith Moyer), Bev (Robb Dewey), Harold Eckhardt and Peggy Yarison. Dear Brother-in-law of Bill Race (Bev), Bruce Race (Cherie) and Karen (Bob Pye). Fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three sons Glen, Colin and an infant son, by one brother Clarence and by three sisters Karen, Shirley and Joyce. Jerry retired from General Motors in 1989. Jerry was a member of the Merritton Lawn Bowling Club, a life member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24. Friends may call at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24,111 Church St., St. Catharines (905-685-8461) on Friday, September 18, 2009 from 11am to 12pm. A funeral service will be held in the legion on Friday at 12noon. Memorial donations to the New Niagara Health Care Complex, Oncology Department, c/o St. Catharines General Hospital, P.O.
