Obituary of Ruth Mitchell Kraus

KRAUS, Ruth Mitchell - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth Mitchell Kraus, of St. Catharines, age 79, on February 24, 2012. Survived by devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Norman Kraus, loving mother and mother- in-law of Arthur and Shelley Kraus of Toronto, Paul and Thea Kraus of St. Catharines, Gail and Brian Berger of Minneapolis, and Andrea Kraus of Toronto. Proud grandmother of Samara, Ilana, Sasha, Matthew, Daniel, Sarah, Jaclyn and Alexander. Survived by loving sisters Zella Glickman of Williamsville, NY and May Kramer of Los Angeles, California, and brother, Jack Mitchell of Welland, many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and life- long friends. Raising her children was her proudest accomplishment. She valued the love of her family and treasured her friendships, which helped her endure her final months and days with continued warmth and grace. Her generosity, kindness to all (and positive attitude) will be her legacy. The family will always be grateful for the excellent care that Ruth received from Hotel Dieu Shaver staff, including caring nurses and all support staff, oncology staff at St. Catharines General, and outstanding CCAC staff. The service will be held at the PATRICK J. DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL at 39 Court Street in St Catharines (905)685-6584 on Sunday February 26th at 1:30pm. Toronto Shiva will be observed at the home of Arthur and Shelley Kraus on Wednesday, February 29th to Friday, March 2nd. Memorial donations may be made to the Walker Cancer Center or The Shaver Hospital. Her warmth, grace and kindness to all will be her legacy.
