Obituary of William Grewar
Grewar, William (Bill) ~ Peacefully at the St. Catharines General Hospital on March 27, 2012. In his 91st year, William Gordon Grewar, loving husband of Florence Grewar (nee Mearow) of 60 years. Loved father of Kathryn Boston (Antionios Taji) and Nancy Gorman. Gramps of Daniel, Jeffrey and Trisha. Remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A very special friend of Simone Cookson (Norman). Predeceased by his parents Will and Mary, by two brothers Donald and Lorne, and by two sisters Doris Shepherd and Jean McClelland. In 1942, Bill enlisted in the Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps, serving in the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean area and Continental Europe. In 1946, Bill was discharged with the rank of Sergeant and returned to civilian life. He was a proud member for sixty-five years of the Royal Canadian Legion. He worked for The Great Lakes Authority (spending ten years in the Cornwall area). Enjoying 30 years of retirement, well into his 70’s, Bill and Florence travelled by bus twice a month for the Toronto Blue Jays games. Memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. Private family services to be held. Arrangements entrusted to Patrick J. Darte Funeral Chapel (905-685-6584).
